International Mine Awareness Day: Investing in peace to protect lives

ALGIERS– The world celebrated on Saturday the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, an opportunity to highlight the urgent need to eliminate landmines and explosive remnants of war that continue to threaten lives, destroy livelihoods and obstruct development, hence the necessity of increasing efforts to combat this scourge and build safe, sustainable environments for communities scarred by armed conflicts.
