ORAN, 2 February 2026 (APS) - The Tosyali steel complex, located in Bethioua (east of Oran), will begin construction this year on a primary iron ore processing plant for ore extracted from the Gara Djebilet mine (Tindouf province). The project is being developed in partnership with the National Mining Research and Development Company (Sonarem), the complex announced in a statement released Monday. According to the statement, issued on the sidelines of Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb’s visit to oversee the arrival and unloading of the first iron ore shipments from Gara Djebilet, the plant’s annual production capacity is estimated at 4 million tons. The facility will include an enrichment unit, a lime unit, and a third unit dedicated to the production of sulfuric acid. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2028. To facilitate the project, a limited liability company was established earlier this year in partnership with the Sonarem Group, said the same source. (APS)
