ALGIERS - Minister of Culture and Arts Malika Bendouda held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Olga Lyubimova, on the sidelines of the 12th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum in Russia, which saw the signing of an "executive program for cooperation between the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts and the Russian Ministry of Culture, Horizons 2030," as per a ministry statement.

The statement emphasized that the signing "marks a new milestone in Algeria-Russia relations and sets an institutional framework for a number of joint projects and programs, notably in the fields of artistic training, cinema, theatre, music, and heritage, as well as exchange cultural events and days."

The agreement also reflects "the shared will to raise cultural and artistic cooperation to a broader level of coordination and joint action, and to strengthen ties between cultural and artistic institutions and actors in Algeria and Russia, thereby reinforcing bridges of rapprochement between the two peoples," the statement noted.

Talks addressed "preparations for celebrating, in 2027, the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Algeria-Russia diplomatic relations," along with "means to develop film cooperation, particularly in training, the exchange of expertise and specialized skills, and documentary production."

Bendouda highlighted "the depth of the shared legacy between the two countries in cultural and artistic training," noting that "several Algerian elites trained in Russia and have become prominent figures in theatre, music, and the arts, and are in turn contributing to the training of new generations in Algeria."

For her part, the Russian minister commended the participation of Algerian youth ambassadors called "Cubs of Culture" in the children's cultural forum held in Moscow last August, considering that it "contributes to bolstering rapprochement between the two countries," the statement added.
