Arab U23 Athletics Championships: Algeria snatches 13 medals, including 6 gold

ISMAILIA (Egypt) - Algeria wrapped up the Arab U23 Athletics Championships with a 13-medal haul ( 6 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze), following the fourth and final day of competition held Wednesday in Ismailia, Egypt.

On this final day, the Algerian harvest was enriched by five new medals (1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze).

The only gold medal of this last day of the Arab event was grabbed by decathlete Walid Touati who dominated the events with a total of 6982 points.

The silver medal went to Manar Benamane in the heptathlon, while the three bronze medals were taken by Aya Zitouni (heptathlon), Nour Meriem Gamane (5,000 m) and the women's 4x400 m relay team.

Algeria's other gold medals were won by Ayoub Ben Naadja (triple jump), Yakoub Abdelmoutaleb (discus throw), Fatima-Zohra Ben Helal (hammer throw), Issam Louadj (long jump) and Anes Djayahia (3,000 m steeplechase).
