In a joint statement with President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, following expanded talks involving the delegations of both countries, Sanchez emphasized that his working and friendship visit to Algeria symbolizes the "firm will to deepen this friendship and expand forward-looking bilateral cooperation."

Addressing bilateral relations, he emphasized the treaty of friendship and good neighbourliness between Algeria and Spain, specifying that "strengthening political dialogue is the foundation upon which everything is built."

The Spanish Prime Minister stated that the delegations of the two countries are already working to make the 8th high-level meeting, scheduled for next autumn, "a real success" and to "lay the necessary foundations" for strengthening cooperation in the areas of security, the fight against irregular migration, and cultural exchanges.

On the economic front, the Spanish Prime Minister described Algeria as a "reliable partner." Recalling that in 2020 Algeria became his country’s "first supplier of natural gas," Sanchez stressed that the relations between the two countries "goes far beyond energy ties." "We wish to collaborate in order to face together the challenges of the energy transition, innovation, and the digitalization of infrastructure," he emphasized.

Sanchez thanked the President of the Republic for choosing Spain as the guest of honour at the Algiers International Fair, expressing his country’s desire to "build mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership" and to "support Algeria in its process of modernization and development of its industrial sector."

Addressing international issues, Sanchez highlighted the "strategic convergence" between the two countries, which act as "a bridge between Africa and Europe."

He stated that Algeria is "a gateway to Africa" and plays "an important role in stabilizing the Sahel," while Spain represents "a gateway to Europe."

"Algeria is a key partner for Spain, due to its geographical position, its African and Mediterranean dimension, but also because of its extraordinary geostrategic importance," he stated.

He further affirmed that "Algeria can count on Spain," expressing his country’s willingness to "continue working closely with Algeria."
