During the visit, the President of the Republic received an official welcome from his host at Villa Borsig.

The two leaders subsequently held one-on-one talks, which later expanded to include both national delegations.

The President of the Republic also held extensive talks with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz, with the participation of delegations from both countries.

During a joint press conference with the German Chancellor, the President of the Republic stated that Algerian-German relations, established following Algeria’s independence in 1962, are "strong and positive, have never been marked by any dispute, and are increasingly improving."

He stressed that "relations with Germany are among the best cooperation ties that Algeria currently maintains."

On the occasion of the official visit, a joint declaration on a strategic agenda for the bilateral partnership between Algeria and Germany was issued.

The declaration emphasized the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation in addressing global challenges, while reaffirming the commitment to further deepen cooperation between the two countries in the political, diplomatic, economic, trade, and energy fields.

It also highlighted their shared desire to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations for the benefit of both economies.

The two sides also agreed to explore the possibility of launching joint research projects and to cooperate in the fields of emerging technologies and innovation ecosystems.

They welcomed the ongoing dialogue on regional and global security issues, including cooperation in defence, counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and combating disinformation, while commending the quality of cooperation in the areas of migration, deportation, readmission, and integration.

The two countries also took note of a joint declaration of intent to cooperate on reducing methane emissions in the oil and gas sector, as well as a new agreement between Sonatrach Group and Germany’s VNG company for the supply of natural gas.

This step is expected to open new avenues for cooperation between the two countries.

The Algerian-German Economic Forum was also held as part of President Tebboune's official visit to Germany, bringing together senior officials, business leaders, and investors from both countries.

Several agreements were signed covering promising strategic sectors, including hydrocarbons, renewable energy, energy transition, the pharmaceutical industry, manufacturing, and advanced technologies.

These agreements reflect the shared commitment of the leaders of both countries to inject new momentum into bilateral cooperation and expand it towards broader horizons in a way that serves the mutual interests of the two friendly peoples.

The President of the Republic began his official visit with a meeting with members of the Algerian community residing in the Federal Republic of Germany.

During the meeting, he responded to their concerns and issued instructions to the government to address the community’s needs and support them in their projects.

He also announced the upcoming opening of a new air route between Algeria and Berlin, noting that several new aircraft have been acquired to bolster the air transport fleet and keep pace with the expansion of the international route network.

For their part, representatives of the Algerian community in Germany praised the significant progress achieved by Algeria under the wise leadership of the President of the Republic, which they said had enabled the completion of major strategic projects and ensured Algeria’s strong comeback to the international arena.

President Tebboune concludes official visit to Germany
