The honoring ceremony took place in the presence of senior state officials, members of the government, and high-ranking state executives.

The President of the Republic honored the national women's wheelchair basketball team, as well as the national teams for gymnastics, badminton, judo, boxing, athletics, wrestling, windsurfing, and table tennis.

They were honored for their outstanding performances at continental and international events and for achieving commendable results.

On the same occasion, the President of the Republic also honored the USM Alger football club for winning the 2026 CAF Confederation Cup.

The list of honorees also included world gymnastics champion Kaylia Nemour, high jumper Younes Ayachi, runner Zakaria Touahria, and kung fu-wushu athlete Merouane Abdelmohsen Adhimi. They were recognized alongside Cylia Ouikene and Louiza Abouriche in karate, Messaoud Redouane Dris in judo, and boxer Fatiha Mansouri.

On this occasion, Minister of Sports Walid Sadi commended President Tebboune’s dedication to supporting and advancing national sports.

On behalf of the sports community, he expressed his deepest thanks and gratitude to the President of the Republic for his "exceptional care, continuous support, and constant encouragement" of the nation's athletics.

The minister underscored that this honoring will remain "an important milestone in the careers of the champion athletes and a strong motive for them to continue working and raise the national flag high in various international sporting events."

He further added: "In accordance with the directives of the President of the Republic, we are committed to continuing our efforts to instill a culture of excellence among athletes through the Olympic Champion project, which allows supporting talents, mobilizing sports federations, and providing the necessary conditions for the elite athletes to bring honor to Algeria in various international and continental competitions, while also expanding the base of sports participation."

The minister also praised the "pure patriotic spirit" shown by athletes from the national diaspora, highlighting their choice to represent Algeria and defend its colors across various sports.

To conclude the ceremony, the President of the Republic posed for a commemorative photo with the outstanding athletes, as well as the players and management of USM Alger. In return, the football club presented the 2026 CAF Confederation Cup and a team jersey to the President of the Republic.
