Honourable sisters and daughters,

Algeria takes pride in you and is committed, at this phase, to securing women's rightful place in full integration within the current sweeping transformations toward the building of a modern State. As you celebrate International Women's Day on this eighth of March in a new and victorious Algeria, joining women across the world in celebrating the fight for women's liberation, you stand in this blessed country as heirs to a proud lineage of resisters, martyrs and freedom fighters, whose stories soared beyond borders as enduring symbols of sacrifice for the survival of the homeland.

You are the rightful heirs to the honor and legacy of Fatma N'Soumer and Djamila Bouhired, and of the countless women of blessed memory whose names our collective memory holds in deep reverence: Zoubida Ould Kablia, Meriem Bouatoura, Djamila Bouazza, Houria Toubal, Djamila Boupacha, Louisa Ighilahriz, Zohra Drif Bitat, and all the activists, fighters and martyrs. And those who carried that same patriotic flame, the steadfast women, the martyrs of national duty: teachers, doctors, journalists and women from the countryside who endured the horrors of extremism and terrorism with patience and courage, each of them stood tall with dignity during the darkest of times, at the very forefront resisting the dangers of undermining the State and its institutions.

My sisters and daughters,

Algeria is a State built on true and equal citizenship, one we are building with you and for you, through your participation in every program we have undertaken.

We have thrown the doors wide open to expand women's role in the national project, most visibly through their appointment to the highest positions, offices and ranks. Algerian women today hold their largest share of government posts since independence, with a growing presence in elected assemblies, constitutional bodies, the security and uniformed services, and across all sectors of economic life, including women's entrepreneurship and productive family initiatives, as well as the sectors of education, justice and healthcare.

In this spirit, I have consistently shown the utmost care in following up on our directives to the government to strengthen women's empowerment and achieve the principle of parity enshrined in the constitution.

On this occasion, I am pleased to conclude by expressing my pride and satisfaction for what the women of this beloved nation achieve in all forms of creativity, innovation and excellence across thought, culture, art and sport.

I also convey the pride of the Algerian people in women's role as guardians of our cultural heritage and the authentic, deep-rooted traditions of our society, nurtured by the educators and mentors shaping the next generation, both in schools and within the Algerian families.

I congratulate you on this international celebration and wish you and your families blessed days for the remainder of this holy month.
