"In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and may peace and blessings be upon the noblest of messengers, Your Excellency President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa,

Excellencies, Heads of State and Government,

Mr. President of the African Union,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

At the outset of my address, I wish to congratulate you, Your Excellency the President, on the successful rotating presidency of South Africa of the Group of Twenty, whose summit was held for the first time on African soil, and on the efforts your brotherly country has made throughout this presidency to ensure Africa's voice is heard by decision-makers within the G20 and to defend the interests of developing countries, particularly African countries."

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for the invitation graciously offered to my nation to participate, as a "guest country," in this summit, in which the Algerian delegation was honored to attend numerous high-level meetings organized during the event, which addressed many sensitive and significant topics related to the G20 summit priorities, thereby reaffirming the depth of the relations that bind our two brotherly countries.

Your G20 presidency coincided with the AU’s second participation as a full member of the group, which we consider an achievement that must be valued and an important step toward ending the marginalization our continent has endured within global governance institutions, enabling it to become an active partner in shaping global economic decisions.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Our brothers in South Africa have worked tirelessly within the G20 to defend our continent's developmental priorities, primarily accelerating inclusive economic growth and promoting industrialization.

These efforts have resulted in placing African development issues at the center of discussions, in line with the African Union's Agenda 2063, which was clearly reflected in the final statement of the summit held in Johannesburg last November.

We also commend the efforts made to include development financing and debt relief for African countries at the center of G20 discussions, through reforming the international financial system to make it more equitable and responsive to the needs of developing countries, as well as through supporting these countries to achieve sustainable development, confront climate challenges, and achieve a just energy transition that takes into consideration the specificities of the African continent.

Your Excellency, Mr. President,

What has been achieved within the G20 under your presidency is an important step credited to our continent and fosters our determination to enhance joint action in a spirit of responsibility and African solidarity, in order to consolidate our continent's position at the international level and ensure a future founded on justice, lasting peace, and shared prosperity for Africa and the entire world.
