President Tebboune affirms State's commitment to encouraging fishermen
ALGIERS - The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, while chairing the Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday, affirmed the State's ongoing commitment to backing and encouraging fishermen through accompaniment and benefiting from facilities and incentives, with a view to boosting Algeria's marine fishing quotas.
 A Council of Ministers statement said the President of the Republic, after listening to a presentation on the 2026 marine fishing roadmap, "announced the state's ongoing commitment to supporting and encouraging fishermen through accompaniment, facilities and incentives to boost Algeria's fishing quotas by introducing modern and effective fishing methods, given that Algeria has not been fully utilizing its quotas."
He also underscored that "developing the marine fishing and aquaculture sector is a national imperative and a priority, given its importance in strengthening food security foundations, that is why efforts must be doubled to increase production," the statement added.
 The President of the Republic ordered that the fishermen's federation be involved through consultation and coordination in all decisions affecting the sector.
Regarding afforestation, the President of the Republic ordered the Agriculture Minister to adopt modern mechanization to boost fruit tree production, with particular emphasis on planting economically valuable trees such as argan, the Council of Ministers statement added.
