ALGIERS - The 25th "WPC" Energy Congress opened on Monday in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab and Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy Mourad Adjal, according to a statement from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons.

Running through next Thursday, the participation of both ministers in this international congress provides "an opportunity to bolster Algeria's presence in global discussions on the energy future, exchange perspectives and expertise with diverse countries, companies, and international institutions, particularly on energy security, market stability, investment, industrial and technological cooperation, and forecasting future sector transformations," the same source noted.

It serves to highlight Algeria's experience and capabilities in the energy domain while showcasing opportunities for cooperation, partnership, and investment, in light of Algeria's standing as a major oil and gas producer and exporter.

The ministers’ participation further underscores the country's role in regional and international energy security and its commitment to maintaining an active presence in major global energy platforms. It aims to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with diverse partners to advance its energy interests and enrich global discussions on market stability, energy security, and the future of the global energy landscape.

Organized under the theme "Pathways to an Energy Future for All," the congress is attended by Algeria's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, alongside several energy ministers, high-ranking officials, energy industry leaders, CEOs of major global corporations, and international experts and researchers.

The congress is a highlight of Riyadh Energy Week, which unites several top international energy events, including the 17th International Energy Forum (IEF) Ministerial Meeting.

The event's agenda features high-level ministerial and strategic panels covering issues regarding the future of the global energy system, including energy security, oil and gas market trends, investment and financing, digital transformation, AI, emerging technologies, critical minerals, carbon management, natural gas, safety standards, and shifts in the energy mix.

The program also features specialized technical forums and sessions focusing on five core domains: primary energy supply, energy infrastructure, fuels and energy molecules, energy technologies, and energy leadership. These sessions centre on innovation, technological breakthroughs, operational and efficiency improvements, and emissions management, according to the release.

Across its ministerial, strategic, and technical discussions, the congress explores key issues regarding the energy sector's future, such as safeguarding energy security and sustainability, scaling up investments, advancing technological innovation, and leveraging AI and digitalization. It also addresses transitions within the energy mix to meet escalating global energy demand, the ministry statement added.
