Hidaoui inaugurates Arab Youth Forum on Peace, Security ALGIERS - The Minister of Youth in charge of the Supreme Council for Youth, Mustapha Hidaoui, inaugurated on Saturday in Algiers the "Arab Youth Forum on Peace and Security," in the presence of government officials and Arab ministers. This event, organized by the Ministry of Youth in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Algeria under the theme "Partners in Peace: Youth Shaping the Future," serves as a platform bringing together young talents and experts from across the Arab world to explore ways of "enhancing the role of youth in promoting a culture of peace and security." In an address, Hidaoui stated that Algeria’s hosting of the forum aligns with the "Arab Strategy on Youth, Peace and Security, and comes at a regional and international context marked by growing challenges, thereby reflecting a collective will to strengthen the role of youth as a key partner in consolidating peace and security." He added that the event, held under the aegis of the Arab League, underscores the "importance of implementing the Arab Strategy on Youth, Security, and Peace, moving from commitments to practical action by empowering youth and involving them in decision-making." Hidaoui further highlighted that by hosting the forum, Algeria reaffirms "its steadfast commitment to supporting joint Arab efforts and promoting a participatory approach that positions youth as a central pillar for achieving security and sustainable development." Attending the event, Natasha van Rijn, UNDP Resident Representative in Algeria, commended Algeria’s "leading role" in empowering youth and enhancing their participation in peace and security initiatives. She emphasized "the importance of partnership with the Ministry of Youth as a key pillar in supporting youth initiatives and expanding avenues of cooperation, particularly at the Arab and African levels, in coordination with the Arab League."
