The battle erupted in the morning of November 13, 1957, when an ALN (National Liberation Army) company under martyr Mohamed Boukendoura ("Si Maâmar") ambushed a French colonial patrol in the Oued Allala valley at the base of Mount Ouled Ben Abderrahim.

The attack was ordered by the commander of Zone 4 of Historic Wilaya V, martyr Ben Adda Ben Aouda ("Si Zaghloul").

During the operation, the mujahideen inflicted significant losses on the colonizer's forces, including numerous killed and wounded, and captured their military equipment while destroying and burning their vehicles, forcing the French patrol to call for reinforcement units from Oran.

The battle intensified after the arrival of these units and 17 aircraft belonging to the French colonizer's airborne commando units that were dispatched from Oran to bombard the mujahideen positions, according to what the researcher in regional history, Mohamed Ghertil, highlighted to APS.

Professor Lahcen Mohamed, historian and researcher in regional history, dealt with this battle in his book "History of the Ammi Moussa Region," confirming that "airborne commando units were dispatched from Oran to support French army divisions, with three helicopters and several aircraft participating in the battle."

The same historian noted that Major "Si Zaghloul" ordered Si Larbi's battalion to attack the French forces' center at Ain Tarik to relieve the pressure on the mujahideen participating in the Battle of Oued Allala. This battle continued until after sunset on the same day, and the battalion commander "Si M'amer" and 35 martyrs fell on the field of honor.

The French colonizer suffered significant human and material losses in the battle, with approximately 40 soldiers killed, including 9 artillery soldiers, in addition to several aircraft being damaged and seven trucks and nine military vehicles destroyed, along with considerable military equipment.
