Orange alert over strong winds sweeping several provinces Friday, Saturday

ALGIERS, 12 February 2026 (APS) - Strong winds are expected on Friday and Saturday across several provinces of the country, according to a special weather report issued on Thursday by the National Meteorological Office (ONM).

Placed under an "Orange" alert level, the report covers the provinces of Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Sidi Bel Abbes, Chlef, Mascara, Relizane, Saida, and Tiaret, where winds will blow from the west at speeds between 60 and 70 km/h, occasionally reaching or exceeding 80 km/h in gusts, from Friday at 12:00 p.m. to Saturday at 3:00 a.m.

The provinces of Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, and Tizi Ouzou are also affected, with winds from the west to southwest at speeds of 60-70 km/h, occasionally reaching or exceeding 80 km/h in gusts, from Friday at 3:00 p.m. to Saturday at 3:00 a.m., the source added.
