Algeria crowned in Golden Team competition for 13-18 age category

ALGIERS, 20 February 2026 (APS) - Algerian students Bensaad Abdallah and Bensaad Meriem, from "Abderrezak Bouhara" Secondary School in El Khroub, Constantine (431 km east of Algiers), have claimed top honors at the Arab level in the Golden Team competition for ages 13-18, organized as part of the 5th Arab Code Week, by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization "ALECSO," the Ministry of National Education said Friday in a press release.

"The two outstanding students claimed the Golden Team title in the 13-18 age category, splitting first place with a team from Yemen, as part of the event held under the theme "Artificial Intelligence and Programming in the Service of Arab Culture," the statement said. It was "staged by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in partnership with the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives, and drew teams from 18 Arab nations." This achievement came "following a multi-stage competitive process, beginning with the announcement of national results on January 16 and culminating in final remote interviews before the Arab jury, as part of an Arab educational initiative aimed at promoting programming culture and developing youth skills in technology and innovation." This "honorable" Arab achievement embodies "the high level and remarkable distinction reached by our students, and reflects their high competitive spirit, solid discipline, tireless perseverance, and legitimate ambition to raise the national flag proudly in various Arab and international forums," as stressed by the Ministry of National Education.
