Western Sahara: Norwegian organization calls on UN to accelerate holding of self-determination referendum

OSLO- The president of the Norwegian Students and Academic's Assistance Fund (SAIH) Nicklas Poulsen called on the United Nations to accelerate the holding of a referendum that will allow the people of Western Sahara to exercise their right to self-determination, said Monday the Sahrawi news agency SPS.

During a meeting with the representative of Polisario Front, Limam Khalil, Poulsen dubbed the continuing illegal occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco "unacceptable" and urged the international community to take action to accelerate the decolonization of the last colony in Africa by allowing the Sahrawi people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and independence.

The Norwegian fund launched in 2015 a campaign under the slogan "Western Sahara: 40 years is enough" in order to put pressure on the Norwegian government to play an effective role in allowing the Sahrawi people exercise their right to sel-determination.
