During the reception ceremony held at the Presidency, the President of the Republic unveiled the World Cup trophy. He then shook hands with the members of the delegation and took a commemorative photo with them.

President Tebboune then received a replica of the World Cup trophy, which was presented to him by the former German international player Jürgen Klinsmann.

World Cup trophy lands in Algiers

The FIFA World Cup trophy made a stop in Algiers on Sunday as part of its sixth global tour, for a two-day visit.

The FIFA delegation, led by former German star Jurgen Klinsmann, was welcomed upon arrival in Algiers by the President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), Walid Sadi, who was accompanied by players from the national team, including goalkeeper Luca Zidane, defender Zinedine Belaid, and attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza.

The World Cup trophy will be exhibited at Mohamed-Boudiaf Olympic Complex in Algiers, where football purists will have the chance to admire it closely and even take a few souvenir photos.

This tour will allow thousands of fans around the world to see the original World Cup trophy up close, ahead of the next tournament, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Launched on 3 January in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the original World Cup trophy tour will visit 30 FIFA member associations, making 75 stops over more than 150 days, giving fans worldwide a unique opportunity to see football's most coveted prize.

This is the third time the World Cup trophy has visited Algeria. The first two occasions were ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Algeria qualified for the 2026 World Cup by finishing at the top of Group G in the qualifiers.

With this achievement, the Greens return to the global stage after missing the last two editions in 2018 in Russia and 2022 in Qatar.
