A sensationalist title, a promise of scandal, and above all, a new chapter in a now-established trend: that of a public media outlet that has traded journalistic standards for the most rancid theories of the French far right.

We must call a spade a spade. This is neither an investigation nor a balanced report, but a methodical disinformation campaign in which Algeria serves as an obsessive target and a source of media revenue.

France Télévisions, which is supposed to embody rigor, is adopting the theories of the far right and once again offering a privileged platform to those who have made hatred of Algeria their battle cry, their personal brand, and their ideological gutter business.

The Algerian obsession of a fringe of the French political class has reached ridiculous heights.

They are centered on a former "fake" French diplomat, a troublemaker suffering from a genuine obsessive pathology called "Algeria."

During his two terms in office in that country, this sinister man never stopped trying to weaken Algeria and plunge it into chaos. He knows full well that in France, the louder the hatred of Algeria, the greater the reward.

The proof: he is now omnipresent on television, promoted as an "indispensable specialist," even though his only capital is based on lies, excess, and baseness. For such a career, what better reward than media fame?

Even more seriously, this French public media outlet now seems willing to do anything to support his hypotheses.

It gives a voice to a drug dealer, a blackmailer, and an illiterate thug with no education or intellectual legitimacy, whose obvious mission is to instill doubt and pervert the minds of Algerian youth.

Driven by his own excesses and his inability to build a dignified social role for himself, this character ostentatiously displays signs of wealth and makes no secret of the fact that he is supported and protected by the French services.

The fact that the French public service has sunk to such depths in the media does not bode well for relations between Algeria and France.

This is especially true given that France Télévisions is no stranger to such behavior: this is the third time that this public media outlet has launched a frontal attack on Algeria with biased reporting, gross approximations, and "revelations" built on sand.

It naively believes that high-ranking Algerian officials could be on the same stage as a vulgar drug dealer who is nothing more than a petty informant for the French services.

So the question arises: what is driving the French public service to stoop so low?

Does the ratings war justify everything? Is buzz now worth moral abdication and professional bankruptcy?

Or should we see it as a deeper symptom of a French malaise, incapable of looking at Algeria other than through the prism of resentment, colonial nostalgia, and internal political obsessions?

By trying to resolve its own identity crises at Algeria's expense, French public service broadcasting is only revealing its own poverty. An intellectual, editorial, and ethical poverty unworthy of a media outlet financed by taxpayers and supposed to serve the public interest, not the fantasies of a far right constantly seeking scapegoats.

Algeria, for its part, does not need these caricatures to exist. But the French media clearly still needs Algeria to mask its own excesses.
