NEW YORK (United Nations)- The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, launched Tuesday at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, the campaign for the promotion of Algeria's candidacy to a UN Security Council non-permanent seat for the term 2024-2025, ahead of the elections to be held during the 77th General Assembly session on June 2023.
NEW YORK (United Nations)- The UN Security Council has, in a resolution adopted unanimously, welcomed the role played by Algeria to help the Malian parties to implement the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali resulting from the Algiers process.
UNITED NATIONS (New York)- During the debate of the UN Security Council, held on Tuesday and devoted to the situation in the Middle East, notably the Palestinian issue, several members of the Security Council largely highlighted and highly commended the efforts made by Algeria for the Palestinian reconciliation.
NEW YORK- Algeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations Nadir Larbaoui denied Wednesday the false allegations of Morocco, holding it responsible for the blockage of the organization of a self-determination referendum in occupied Western Sahara.
BRUSSELS- The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stressed EU's position over Western Sahara issue, reiterating its "fully support to the UN-led process" to reach a political solution acceptable by the two parties to the conflict, namely the Polisario Front and Morocco.
NEW YORK- The New York Support Group for the Independence of Western Sahara called on the UN Security Council to find a way to enable the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to accomplish its main mission consisting in the organization of a referendum on self-determination in Africa’s last colony.
GENEVA (Switzerland)- The 306 member organizations of the Geneva Support Group for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights in Western Sahara called on Morocco, Wednesday, to abandon its colonial policies and enforce international law in this non-autonomous territory.
