Sahrawi Information Minister and Government Spokesperson Hamada Selma Eddaf denounced “the fallacious allegations” peddled by the Sahrawi PM and his “contradictory” statements on the situation in El Guerguerat.
Saad Eddine El Othmani’s statements and the information released by some newspapers show that “the Moroccan Army continues to minimize its bombings in El Guerguerat, which violates the ceasefire agreement and represent the direct cause of the beginning of the armed conflict after 16 years of war and 6 years of negotiations, during which Morocco had spent no effort to reach a ceasefire, according to which it commits to holding a self-determination referendum.”
El Othmani stressed that “the allegations peddled by the Moroccan PM unveil the contradictory actions and statements of his country that plays the role of victim whereas it is the torturer.”
“Worse still, Morocco dares to dub the military attack conducted on last 13 November non-hostile. These are nothing but lies uttered by the PM who only further impoverishes the Moroccan people by involving them in a war lost in advance, a war that will only lead to losses, debts, deprivation and ignorance,” said the PM.
“Morocco’s disengagement from the agreements sealed under the aegis of the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of African Unity (AU currently) brings the conflict in Western Sahara back to the starting point,” said the Sahrawi spokesperson.
The Sahrawi Government attributes full responsibility of this situation to the Moroccan Army and urges the parties that have been supporting it since 30 years to oblige him to withdraw from the Western Sahara territories as the only solution to bring peace to the region, affirmed the Sahrawi official.
