ALGIERS – The "Sputnik V" Covid-19 vaccine will be locally manufactured in partnership with Russia, said on Saturday in Algiers Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Lotfi Benbahmed, adding that the public pharmaceutical group "Saidal" will be the exclusive producer of the vaccine.

ALGIERS -  The reception by Algeria of the first batch of Russian Covid-19 vaccine, Spoutnik V, is "imminent," said Monday the spokesman for the Scientific Committee in charge of the Coronavirus pandemic follow-up, Dr Djamel Fourar. Dr Fourar also serves as the Health Ministry’s manager for prevention.

ALGIERS- Minister of Helath, Population and Hospital Reform, Abderrahmane Benbouzid, presented Wednesday, during the meeting of the government, the procedures adopted by his department to acquire the Covid-19 vaccine.

BOUMERDES- The Algerian authorities are in contact with laboratories, consulates and others, for the purchase of the Covid-19 vaccine as soon as it becomes available, according to the health standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO), said Minister of Population Health and Hospital Reform, Abderrahmane Benbouzid said Saturday.

PARIS- A vaccine jointly developed by US firm Pfizer and German company BioNTech  has proven to be 90% effective at preventing COVID-19 infections, according to phase 3 trials, the last step before an application for registration, announced these companies.

 ALGIERS- Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abderrahmane Benbouzid said Thursday in Algiers, that the State is determined to acquire the Covid-19 vaccine to protect citizens, regardless of "the cost."

ALGIERS-Algeria attaches "the highest" importance to the acquisition of the vaccine against the Covid-19 virus, affirmed Tuesday Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abderrahmane Benbouzid, said a statement from the ministry.

ALGIERS- Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad affirmed Sunday, in Algiers, that Algeria “will be among the first countries to acquire Covid-19 vaccine.”

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune gave Sunday instructions to the Prime minister to speed up the necessary contacts with the countries where scientific researches have progressed on the production of Covid-19 vaccine, in order to purchase it as soon as it is marketed, said a communiqué of the Presidency of the Republic.
