Coronavirus: 8, 273 hospitalized patients, including 573 in intensive care

ALGIERS- Director of health services at the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Lyes Rahal affirmed Monday that 8, 273 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized, including 573 in intensive care nationwide, i.e. 40.5% of available hospital beds and 38.02% of available intensive care beds.

Guest of the National Radio, together with minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform and of director of prevention and spokesman of the Scientific Committee for monitoring the progress of Coronavirus pandemic Djamel Fourar, Rahal said that “8,273 patients are currently hospitalized, including 573 in intensive care throughout the national territory, i.e. 40.5% of the available hospital beds and 38.02% of the available intensive care beds,” pointing out that this rate exceeds 50% in some provinces, like Algiers.

“The strategy and the database adopted by the ministry in the crisis management showed that 1,277 patients recovered from their infection in addition to the admission of 228 others to Mustapha Bacha Hospital until last Sunday,” he said, adding that all the hospital wards, nationwide, are equipped with oxygen.

In order to contain the fresh outbreak of cases with Covid-19 “the sector has mobilized 18,491 hospital beds and 1,507 intensive care beds at the national level and made all the necessary medical supplies and medicines available.”
