This MoU was signed on the sidelines of the forum of the Russian Energy Week in Moscow, by OPEC Secretary General Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo and his GECF counterpart, Yury Sentyurin, said the source.

 

"The purpose of the MoU is to establish and strengthen cooperation to conduct activities and share experiences, views, information and best practices in areas of mutual interest," said the statement.

The areas of cooperation identified in the MoU include "monitoring, analysis, modeling and forecasting of energy market, short, medium and long term studies and their energy market methodologies, data and statistics on energy market, statistical data and operational issues (such as data collection, evaluation and dissemination methodologies), energy initiatives and developments for sustainability, as well as environmental and social responsibility and other areas and issues involving interests and common concerns."
