ALGIERS- The deputies of the People’s National Assembly (Parliament’s Lower House) adopted Wednesday by a majority the bill modifying and completing the law on penal code.

ALGIERS- Minister of Justice Abderrachid Tabi underlines Monday, in Algiers, that the amendments contained in the bill on the penal code aim to curb the crimes committed against the society and to end some phenomena.

ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, signed on Sunday the decree amending and supplementing the penal code which had been approved by the Council of Ministers at its last meeting, said the Presidency of the Republic in a communiqué. 

ALGIERS -Members of the National People's Assembly (Lower House) unanimously adopted on Wednesday the bill on preventing and combating discrimination and hate speech, and the bill amending and completing the order on Criminal Code.

ALGIERS- The criminalization of disseminating fake news, a flagship provision introduced in the penal code currently debated at the People’s National Assembly, has come to fill a legal vacuum, imbue fake news’ authors with a sense of responsibility and adapt the national legal framework to the evolution of society notably in terms using social networks and other electronic communication tools, stressed the text’s creators.

ALGIERS- The Council of ministers chaired Sunday by President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune adopted the bill modifying and completing the order n^o 66-156 of 8 June 1966 on the penal code criminalizing the acts that have spread in recent years to the point of threatening the country’s security and stability, notably the dissemination of fake news to undermine the public order and security as well as national unity.
