ORAN (Algeria)- The 8th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa opened Thursday in Oran under the theme "Support to the new African members of the UN Security Council in addressing peace and security issues in Africa."

ORAN (Algeria)- The deputy Prime Minister and minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen Hassen, arrived Wednesday evening in Oran to take part in the 8th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa on Thursday.

ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, met Sunday in Algiers with the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union, Bankole Adeoye, with whom he discussed the crisis in Libya and several other African issues.

ALGIERS-The prospects of promoting political and peaceful solutions to the various crises undermining peace and security in the regions of North Africa and the Middle East were at the center of the meeting held Sunday between Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Joey Hood, who is on an official visit to Algeria.

LOME-Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union, Algerian Smaïl Chergui on Monday received the distinction of Commander of the Order of Mono of the Togo Republic for his actions in favour of peace actions in Africa. 

 ALGIERS - Algeria is a "reliable and strong partner" and it can play a "very important role to ensure security and peace in the region," said Wednesday in Algiers General Stephen J. Townsend commander of United States Africa Command.

ALGIERS-Chairman of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House) Slimane Chenine on Thursday emphasized Algeria’s efficient role in the establishment of peace and security in Africa, the promotion of a joint action and the peaceful resolution of conflicts under full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.  

ALGIERS -African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security Smaïl Chergui called, in Bamako, for a "concerted effort" by governments and Regional Economic Communities in Africa to strengthen natural resource governance.

ALGIERS-At the opening ceremony of the 41^st session of its General Council Thursday in Algiers, the Organization of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) paid a glowing tribute to President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika for his “efforts and contribution to socioeconomic development, peacemaking, democracy and social justice in Algeria and Africa.”
