ALGIERS- The public prosecutor at the Court of Sidi M'hamed, Algiers, requested Tuesday a sentence of 20 years' imprisonment against former minister of Energy, Chakib Khelil, in his first trial in a corruption case.

ALGIERS- The criminal pole specialized in financial and economic crimes at Sidi M'hamed Court of Algiers on Monday sentenced the former chief of staff of the prime ministry, Mustapha Karim Rahiel, to three years in prison with a fine of DZD 500,000 while the former Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal was acquitted, in cases relating to corruption in the province of Bejaia (263-km east of Algiers).

ALGIERS- The investigation unit of the National Gendarmerie in Medea has dismantled a terrorist cell, made up of 21 individuals, belonging to the terrorist movement Rashad and operating in the province, the Command of the National Gendarmerie said Friday in a statement.

ALGIERS-The Court of Sidi M'hamed on Thursday has acquitted Lotfi Nezzar, son of former Defense Minister Khaled Nezzar, of all charges against him, including money laundering, illegal transfer of funds and forgery to obtain undue privileges.

ALGIERS-The criminal pole specialized in the fight against financial and economic crimes at the Court of Sidi M'hamed (Algiers) on Monday has sentenced the former Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Imane Houda Faraoun to 3 years in prison with a fine amounting to DZD500,000 and the former director general of Algeria Telecom (AT), Tayeb Kebbal to 5 years in prison with a fine worth a million dinars.
