ALGIERS- The Court of Algiers on Wednesday sentenced former minister of Justice, Tayeb Louh, to two years in prison for abuse of office, influence peddling and obstruction of justice.

ALGIERS- Prosecutor General of the Court of Algiers on Wednesday requested a sentence of 10 years in prison against former minister of Justice, Tayeb Louh, prosecuted for breach of trust, influence peddling and obstructing the proper conduct of justice.

ALGIERS- The public prosecutor at the Court of Sidi M'hamed, Algiers, requested Tuesday a sentence of 20 years' imprisonment against former minister of Energy, Chakib Khelil, in his first trial in a corruption case.

ALGIERS- The minister of Justice Abderrachid Tabi on Monday reiterated Algeria's full respect of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and the paramount importance Algeria attaches to the principles of transparency and integrity in the management of public affairs, the ministry said in a statement.

CAIRO (Egypt)- Algeria on Monday made a proposal through its minister of Justice, Abderrachid Tabi, for the development of an Arab cooperation protocol to recover funds  diverted abroad.

ALGIERS- The criminal pole specialized in financial and economic crimes at Sidi M'hamed Court of Algiers on Monday sentenced the former chief of staff of the prime ministry, Mustapha Karim Rahiel, to three years in prison with a fine of DZD 500,000 while the former Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal was acquitted, in cases relating to corruption in the province of Bejaia (263-km east of Algiers).

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune said Saturday that the "consolidation of the legal framework to fight corruption must be combined with a commitment to protect the honest officials," adding that the move "will be supported by a special legal system.

ALGIERS- The economic and financial crimes division at Sidi M'Hamed Court of Algiers sentenced Monday the former wali (governor) of Tipasa, Moussa Ghellai, to three years in prison for corruption and granting of undue advantage.

ALGIERS- The former CEO of Sonatrach, Abdelmoumen Ould-Kaddour, was extradited Wednesday by the United Arab Emirates to Algeria, following an international arrest warrant issued for his involvement in implication cases.

ALGIERS- The examining magistrate at the criminal court specialized in the fight against financial and economic crime, in Algiers, ordered Thursday to place the former minister of Water Resources, Arezki Berraki, in pre-trial detention, judicial source told APS.
