ALGIERS- Algeria is determined to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by seven percent by 2030, through its own means, and may even bring the rate to 22% if it receives sufficient financial, technical and technological support from the developed countries, the speaker of the People's National, Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Brahim Boughali said Monday.

ALGIERS-The Minister of Energy Transition and Renewable Energy, Benattou Ziane, on Friday reiterated Algeria's commitment to supporting global efforts to address climate change, stressing that energy transition is the Algerian government’s "strategic choice.” 

ALGIERS- The parliamentary delegation of the two chambers of Parliament stressed Sunday, at the headquarters of the European Parliament, the “great interest granted” granted by Algeria to the climate change crisis and its effects, while reviewing Algeria’s strategy in this area, said the Council of the Nation in a communiqué.

ALGIERS- MPs from the Council of the Nation (upper house of Parliament), attending the 43rd meeting of the bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) in Rome, Italy, on Thursday, called for coordination of positions in the fight against terrorism, climate change and decolonization issues, the upper house said in a statement.

RIYADH (Saudi Arabia)- Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Aïmene Benabderrahmane said Monday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that dealing climate issues must be based on the "need for the advanced countries to "assume their historical responsibility" while taking into consideration the "differences" between those countries and the developing countries.

RIYADH- International experts in climatology commended on Sunday in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Algeria’s efforts and commitments in terms of the fight against the phenomenon of climate change and protection of biodiversity.

ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, called Tuesday for the rapid implementation of the Support Fund to address the climate-related security risks endorsed by the UN Security Council (UNSC) at the request of Algeria, urging the developed countries to commit to limiting the risks of climate change.

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized Tuesday, in a speech he made by video conference in the meeting of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on the climate change, the necessity of finding appropriate solutions dealing with the negative effects of global warming, the Presidency of the Republic said in a communiqué.

ALGIERS- Local plans for adaptation to climate change and their implementation on the ground are currently being implemented in several provinces which suffering from  "climate weakness," like Djelfa, Guelma, El Bayadh, M'sila and Sidi Bel Abbes, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities, said an official at the Ministry of the Environment.

ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Tuesday proposed the creation of an African Fund for climate change disasters and urged compliance with the principles of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
