60th anniversary of independence: Algeria, Tunisia linked by rich history of achievements

ALGIERS- Tunisian President, Kaïs Saïed said on Monday that Algeria and Tunisia were linked by a rich history of glories and great deeds, saying that the celebration by Algeria of the 60th anniversary of its independence allowed to remember the attachment of the two brotherly peoples to the principles of freedom, independence and sovereignty.

"The anniversary of Algeria's independence allows us to remember the attachment of Tunisians, Algerians and all freedom-loving peoples to their independence, sovereignty and self-determination," said Kaïs Saïed, who accompanied President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the inauguration of the commemorative stele "Milestone of Freedom" in Sidi Fredj (Algiers).

"The two peoples are linked by a rich and common history," he stressed.

After recalling the sacrifices of a million and a half shouhada in Algeria, the Tunisian president said that "the Tunisian blood was mixed with Algerian blood many times during the Liberation war. The celebration of Algeria is, today, that of Tunisia.
