The measure has been decided by Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad, in accordance with the instructions of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as part of the fight against the coronavirus spread (Covid-19), a press release from the Prime Minister's office said Thursday.
"In application of the instructions of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence and following the consultations with the Scientific Committee in charge of monitoring the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID -19) and the health authorities, Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad has defined the measures to be implemented with a view to handling the health crisis linked to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19)," added the same source.
The partial lockdown restrictions are renewed, for a period of 15 days, from 11 p.m. to the next day at 4 a.m. in the following 9 provinces: Batna, Biskra, Blida, Tebessa, Tizi-Ouzou, Algiers, Jijel, Sidi Bel Abbes and Oran.
The following 49 provinces are not concerned by the confinement measure: Adrar, Chlef, Laghouat, Oum El Bouaghi, Bejaia, Béchar, Bouira, Tamenghasset, Tlemcen, Tiaret, Djelfa, Sétif, Saïda, Skikda, Annaba, Guelma, Constantine, Médéa, Mostaganem, M'Sila, Mascara, Ouargla, El Bayadh, Illizi, Bordj Bou Arréridj, Boumerdes, El Tarf, Tindouf, Tissemsilt, El Oued, Khenchela, Souk Ahras, Tipaza, Mila, Ain Defla, Naâma, Ain Temouchent, Ghardaia, Relizane, Timimoun, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Ouled Djellal, Beni Abbés, In Salah, In Guezzam, Touggourt, Djanet, El Meghaeir and El Meniaâ.
The measure is applicable, as of Friday April 16th, 2021.
Upon the agreement of the competent authorities, the governors can take "all the measures required by the health situation of each province, in particular the establishment or modification the partial lockdown schedules in line with the situation in municipalities, localities or neighborhoods."
The Government calls on citizens, in this particular period of Ramadan, month of sacrifice and discipline, to "continue their mobilization efforts to maintain the same degree of vigilance to combat the spread of Coronavirus (COVID- 19) in our country and to continue to scrupulously observe the recommended barrier measures, such as physical distancing, the compulsory wearing of masks and frequent hand washing."
