"In accordance with the directives of the President of the Republic, the government has taken a series of measures intended to protect the population since the beginning of the health crisis caused by the novel Coronavirus ‘COVID-19’," said the press release.
As part of the efforts undertaken for a fortnight in order to contain the coronavirus pandemic, which only spreads through persons’ movements, the prevention and control measures decided by the public authorities are "extended for an additional period".
In addition to the President of the Republic measure on the extension, for two weeks, of the closure of kindergartens, schools, universities and training establishments, the following measures are renewed until Sunday, April 19, 2020:
-Total lockdown in the province of Blida.
- Restrictions on persons’ movement as part of the partial containment measure in the following provinces of Algiers, Batna, Tizi Ouzou, Sétif, Constantine, Médéa, Oran, Boumerdes, El Oued and Tipaza.
-The closure of places which are usually crowded and shops as well as the stop of passenger transport.
- Suspension of sports competitions and activities.
In addition, the partial containment measure is broadened to the following provinces: Béjaïa, Aïn Defla, Mostaganem and Bordj Bou Arreridj. This measure will come into effect as of Thursday, April 2, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and will continue until April 19, 2020.
On this occasion, the government reiterates its call for public vigilance and strict compliance with the rules of hygiene and social distancing, as recommended by the health authority.
"In addition, multiple actions are being implemented to ensure health security and the regular supply of our fellow citizens as well as the necessary assistance to families and people concerned by these measures," the statement said.
