"We need to be vigilant enough to counter everything that could threaten the entity of the Nation, causes dissension and weaken our ties, knowing that the Islamic Shariah Law strongly advocates the preservation of vital interests, which are cohesion and unity, by promoting the factors of their consecration and banishing those of its obstruction," the Head of the state said in a message on the occasion of the 21st Holy Quran Week, read on his behalf by Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Youcef Belmehdi.
"Our authentic Muslim society, imbued with the wisdom conveyed by the precepts of Islam, rejects Fitna fuelled by violence and extremism," said Bensalah adding that "when the ulamas (the guardians, transmitters and interpreters of religious knowledge) see fitna, they strive to steer the right path by advocating lucidity and discernment against the evils that destroy families and the scourges that undermine the foundations of countries and societies."
"Our religion invites us to look at the consequences and repercussions, positive or negative, and not to favour personal glory and clan membership in the interest of the faithful and the country to overcome internal challenges and external dangers," said the Head of the State.
"We need, at this critical juncture, to combine our efforts to help citizens preserve the message and oath of the Shouhadas (martyrs), drawing from our civilizational values the cohesion and patriotism that protect society, institutions and individuals from all the scourges and dangers that lie ahead, especially in difficult situations and crises," he added.
According to the Head of the State, "wisdom and foresight are more judicious in times of crisis because they constitute a real raft to reach the shore."
Moreover, Head of the State Abdelkader Bensalah took this opportunity to express his "pride in the valiant Algerian people, for their momentum for change by adopting pacifism as a means of expression, and the Army detachments who accompanied the people, showing a civilized and alluring image that has dazzled the entire world."
"Our country needs, today more than ever, all the wise and dedicated efforts in the public interest to ensure, thanks to the presidential election, a just and brilliant future for Algeria and its people," said Bensalah.
The Algerian Head of State extended, additionally, his "sincere greetings" to the participants in this meeting, coinciding with the celebration of the Mawlid Ennabaoui Echarif "Birth of Prophet Mohamed" (Peace Be Upon Him) and the commemoration of the outbreak of the glorious Revolution of Liberation along with other national occasions, such as the National Day of Migration and the Restoration of National Sovereignty over the Radio and Television.
