UN Security Council plans open session on Palestine on July 24th

NEW YORK- The United Nations (UN) Security Council will hold an open session devoted to the Palestinian issue on July 24th, announced Thursday Palestine’s permanent representative to the United Nations Riyad Mansour.

“UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov presented a report to the Security Council on behalf of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the situation in Palestine and also what is expected from the Council to assume its responsibilities, including the preservation of the international peace and security,” Mansour told the radio “Voice of Palestine,” according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Mansour informed that intense consultations, relating to the report, will see the participation of several parties as well as representatives of Guterres to discuss the protection of civilian inhabitants in the occupied territories against the attacks of the Israeli occupier.

Palestine’s permanent representative said that a meeting has recently brought together Arab ambassadors to the United Nations about this issue.
