This turnover was achieved despite a slight decline in the global export volume, which amounted to 98.9 million tonnes of oil-equivalent (TOE) in 2018 against 106.2 million tonnes in 2017, i.e. a drop of nearly 7%, due notably to the implementation of the OPEC-non-OPEC
agreement to cut crude oil production.
By adding the quantities intended for the national market (52.5 million toe), the volumes of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons sold in 2018 reached 151.4 million TOE, compared to 161.2 million toe in 2017, down by 6.1%.
In regards to operating activities, crude oil primary production reached 48.5 million tonnes against 49.3 million tonnes in 2017, including 20.7 million tonnes produced in association with foreign companies in 2018.
On the other hand, primary production of condensates totalled 8.9 million tonnes (compared with 9 million tonnes in 2017), including 2.1 million tonnes produced in association with foreign companies in 2018.
Regarding the production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG or LP gas) reached 7.9 million tonnes (against 8 million tonnes in 2017), including 2.1 million tonnes in cooperation with foreign partners.
As for primary production of natural gas, it stood at 132 billion standard m3 (Sm3) in 2018 (against 135 billion Sm3 in 2017), of which 24.2 billion Sm3 produced in association, added the same source.
Thus, Sonatrach's total primary production hit 192.3 million TOE in 2018, including 48.4 million TOE in collaboration with foreign companies.
Compared to 2017 achievements (196.5 million TOE products),the total primary production decreased by 2.1% in 2018.
In terms of liquefaction, refining and petrochemicals, Sonatrach reported production of 22.2 million m3 of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in 2018 compared to 27.1 million m3 in 2017.
With reference to refined products (processed crude oil and condensate), Sonatrach produced 25.7 million tonnes in 2018 against 28.2 million tonnes in 2017.
Furthermore, 30 new oil and gas fields were discovered by Sonatrach in 2018 against 33 discovered in 2017.
In 2018, Sonatrach completed 80 exploration drilling operations (77 against 3 with partners), down by 20% compared to 2017 (100 alone, 1 in combination).
Development drilling operations also declined from 230 wells finalized in 2017 (172 alone, 58 in combination) to 197 wells (171 alone, 26 in association) in 2018.
