Algeria's exchange reserves hit US$97.3 bn in late 2017

ALGIERS- Algeria's exchange reserves totalled US$97.3 billion in late December 2017, said Monday the Governor of the Bank of Algeria, Mohamed Loukal.

In late December 2016, the exchange reserves were US$114.1 billion, down by US$16.8 billion, said Loukal during his presentation in a plenary session on the country's financial and economic situation, at the People's National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament).

In October 2016, Minister of Finance Abderrahmane Raouya said that the country's exchange reserves are expected to hit US$85.2 billion by the end of 2018 (equivalent of 18.8 months of imports), US$79.7 bn in 2019 (18.4 months of imports) and US$76.2 bn in 2020 (17.8 months of imports).
