ALGIERS- Andalusian artist Farid Khodja gave Thursday evening a concert of Andalusian concert in the Basilica of Our Lady of Africa, in Algiers.
BATNA- The play “Yema n Dzaïr” (My mother Algeria) by the cultural association Ithrène Takerdousset from Bouira won the prize for the best show of the 11th National Amazigh Theatre Festival, which wrapped up Tuesday evening at the regional theatre of Batna.
ALGIERS- Algeria will be taking part in the 13th Session of Intergovernmental Committee of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, scheduled for February 11 to 14 in Paris, according to the Secretary State for Culture.
TEBESSA- Minister of Culture, Malika Bendouda, instructed Sunday in Tébessa officials of the National Center for Research in Archaeology (CNRA) to declare the municipality of Negrine (south of Tébessa) as an "archaeological zone authorized for excavations."

Two Algerian short films to compete in Libya

ALGIERS- Algerian short films “I’ll Tell Everything to God” and “Curse within Shadows” were selected to compete in the 3rd International Festival of Human Rights Films, “Erato,” to be held from 21 to 25 March in the Libyan capital Tripoli, announced the event’s organizers.
EL OUED- Egyptian play “Ana Carmen” (I am Carmen) by the company "El-Beit El-Fenni” snatched the first prize of the International Women Monodrama Festival, which wrapped up Wednesday in El Oued.
BATNA- The 11th National Cultural Festival of Amazigh kicked off Monday evening, in Batna (435-km southeast of Algiers), in attendance of writers, fourth Art enthusiasts and local authorities.
TLEMCEN- More than 32,000 people visited the Royal Palace, established inside the citadel of El Mechouar in Tlmcen, which has become a real tourist destination, said Monday its manager Radia Benhadji.
HAVANA- The organizers of the International Festival of the Spanish Educational Cinema has chosen the Sahrawi embassy in the Cuban capital, Havana, to kick off this event, marked by the presence of Sahrawi ambassador Maoulanain who emphasized the role of the cinema to convey the peoples’ voice, welcoming the gesture of solidarity with the fight of the Sahrawi people and their cause.
ALGIERS – An album of comic strips retracing the Algerian journey of Mieczyslaw Slowikowski, a Polish military intelligence officer chief, who was a spy of the Allied forces in North Africa during the Second World War, has been recently published by cartoonist Si-Saber Mahrez under the title "Rygor, a superhero in Algiers".
