Kabyle singer Jameela passes away at 89

ALGIERS- Algerian Kabyle singer Jameela died Tuesday evening in Algiers at the age of 89, following a long illness, her relatives said.
CONSTANTINE (Algeria)- The 8th International Inshad (Muslim religious chants) Festival of Constantine will open Thursday at Mohamed Taher Fergani Regional Theatre, with the participation, for the first time ever, of an African country, namely Senegal, the festival's curator Samir Louahlouah said Tuesday.
ALGIERS- The International Book Fair of Algiers SILA, the year’s most expected cultural event, returns for its 24th edition. It officially opens on Wednesday with the participation of 1030 publishing houses, including 298 Algerian editions offering more than 183,000 books.

Eight short films screened in Algiers

ALGIERS- A package of eight short films, ranging from fiction and documentary has been screened to the public on Saturday at Algiers Cinémathèque movie theatre, as part of the "Day of Short film and documentary."
TUNIS-The movies “Papicha”, directed by Algerian Mounia Meddour, and “Abou Leilal”, directed by Amine Sidi Boumedien, compete at the 30th Cartage Film Days (JCC) that kicked off Saturday evening in Tunis, said local press.
ALGIERS- The music show “And what if we sing peace?,” a journey through the Italian song denouncing the throes of war, was presented Friday evening by the Italian group "Gruppo Incanto.”
ALGIERS-"Italians: when we were the migrants," a poignant show on the history of Italian migration, was given Thursday evening at Boualem Bessaih Opera of Algiers by the musical troupe "Gruppo Incanto," in an atmosphere full of nostalgia and emotion.
BECHAR (Algeria)-Sixteen works by young filmmakers will compete at the fifth National Short Film Days (JCMB), scheduled from 2 to 5 November at Kadi Mohamed House of Culture in Bechar, said the event's organizers.
TIARET- "Synapse" film by director Noureddine Zerrouki will take part in the 14th International Short Film Festival in Noukachott (Mauritania, 23 to 27 October), said the director.
ALGIERS- The 24th international Book Fair of Algiers (SILA), to be held from October 30 to November 9, has decided to honor young talents and winners of Algerian and foreign literary prizes.
