Following the decision taken by President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika to declare Yennayer (12 January) a national non-working holiday, the Ministry of Culture “has prepared a varied programme of festivities countrywide,” Mihoubi said on the national radio.

The programme includes “a cultural week in each province with a view to reviving and highlighting the ancestral traditions of our parents and grandparents, and perpetuate them,” said the minister.
“All regional and central directorates of culture have been tasked with highlighting the Amazigh dimension of our culture during all local, regional and international cultural festivities and events,” stated the minister.
The Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs “are currently coordinating to hold a series of concerts for our national community abroad,” said the minister.
