“We have reached, through this experience, a real patriotic internal front that created a bond between the Algerians, between the rulers and the governed,” said Djerad when attending the daily press briefing on the progress of the pandemic.
Prime minister underlined that the first challenge which was taken up is that of tests. “We have launched the challenge of tests since the beginning. We managed to have the maximum of tests that we have imported. We are now manufacturing them. We are making tests because they help understand the real sample of infected people,” underlined Djerad, adding “we are at more than 7,000 tests and we have today a lot of screening capacities.”
Djerad said that the second challenge that “we won at an early stage, before many countries, is that of the use of medicine: hydroxychloroquine.”
“We have used it and it worked quite well and continues to give very good results,” he stressed.
The third challenge is that of protection masks, added the Prime minister, pointing out that “It has been two months since the public authorities started demanding their use, contrary to what some claim.”
“We want today to make the wearing of masks compulsory and that all citizens wear it. We have distributed nine million masks and we will continue doing it,” he added.
