Electoral law has been revised and a "new application" is being used for the review of the voter lists, he said.
Visiting Dar El Beida Municipality where he inspected the electoral list review operation, Charfi said that the "next presidential elections will live up to the aspirations of the Algerian people, as expected from the creation of the Authority in conformity with Articles 7 and 8 of the Constitution, and following the revision of the electoral laws which allow a massive turnout and ensure the citizens the right to elect their president of the Republic."
The Election Authority chairman announced that a "new application is used in the electoral list review operations."
This application "allows the automatic processing of voters’ lists" and "ends the complicated procedures for the citizens," he added. It also “allows protecting the citizens’ votes.”
Charfi called on young people "to register to vote," adding that voting represents an "accountability contract between the citizen and the country.
Youth have their word to say in the shaping of the country’s future" and "its future depends on the success of the coming presidential elections".
With the launch of the exceptional revision of the electoral lists, "the countdown for the presidential election has begun, following a new legal approach, under the auspices of the National Authority on Elections, which is responsible for setting the conditions for fair and transparent elections, with a view to guaranteeing the effective participation of the voters," Charfi concluded.
