Abdelmalek Sellal was heard by the investigating judge at the Supreme Court in cases related to embezzlement of public funds, abuse of office and the granting of undue privileges.
On Wednesday, former Prime minister Ahmed Ouyahia was remanded in custody at the prison of El Harrach, while former minister of Public Works Abdelghani Zaalane was placed under court supervision after being heard in cases related to corruption.
Former Public Works minister Amara Benyounes will also be heard Thursday afternoon.
In accordance with the Article 573 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the public prosecution at the Court of Algiers had submitted to the prosecutor general at the Supreme Court, the preliminary investigation file conducted by the National Gendarmerie’s Criminal Investigation Department of Algiers for criminal acts against former Prime minister Abdelmalek Sellal and Ahmed Ouyahia, former ministers Zaalane Abdelghani, Tou Amar, Talai Boudjemaa, Ghoul Amar, Benyounes Amara, Bouazgui Abdelkader, Djoudi Karim, Bouchouareb Abdesslam and former governors Zoukh Abdelkader and Khanfar Mohamed Djamel.
“Due to their posts at the time when the facts happened, the above-mentioned benefit from the jurisdictional privilege according to this law,” said the general prosecution at the Court of Algiers.
