Algeria ready to host African conference on drying up terrorism financing sources

ADDIS ABABA-Premier Ahmed Ouyahia on Saturday affirmed that Algeria “is ready” to host an African conference on drying up terrorism financing sources in next March.

"In order to carry forward our continent’s action in the fight against terrorism financing, notably hostage-taking, our country is ready to host an African conference on this issue in March,” said Ouyahia in a speech at the meeting of the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council at the level of Heads of State and Government.

Representing President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika at the AU Heads of State and Government Summit, Ouyahia said the meeting would focus on “mobilizing the international community through drafting a protocol complementary to the 1999 International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorism or to the 1983 International Convention against the Taking of Hostages by the United Nations (UN)."
